Match Preview

Arsenal will kick off their latest pre-season tour in the United States with a match against Premier League rivals Bournemouth at Dignity Health Sports Park in California. The game is scheduled for 3:30 am UK time on Thursday morning.

Bournemouth has already begun their US tour, drawing 1-1 with League One newcomers Wrexham in their first friendly. The Cherries are looking to build on this result as they face off against Arsenal, who are eager to bounce back from a near-miss season.

In the 2023-24 campaign, Arsenal pushed Manchester City to the limit but ultimately fell short in their quest for the Premier League title. Despite a remarkable season with 28 league wins and 91 goals scored, Arsenal couldn’t surpass City’s dominance. They did secure the Community Shield and performed admirably in the Champions League, reaching the quarter-finals without suffering a heavy defeat.

Arsenal’s pre-season includes a series of challenging friendlies against Bournemouth, Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, and Lyon. They have already won a behind-closed-doors friendly against Leyton Orient, with Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe getting on the scoresheet.

For Bournemouth, the draw against Wrexham extended their winless run to four matches across all competitions. Despite ending their Premier League season with three consecutive losses, the Cherries achieved their best-ever league finish under Andoni Iraola.

As Arsenal begins their tour, Bournemouth will be wrapping up theirs. Iraola’s side will soon host Rayo Vallecano and Girona at Dean Court. In their previous encounters last season, Arsenal scored seven goals across two matches against Bournemouth, and the Cherries will be looking to improve their performance and end their five-game losing streak against the Gunners.
